Occasionally we come across a window or door which is beyond repair. Fortunately we can give you a quote to replace the offending item. Our windows and doors are manufactured from Eurocell profile. This is a feature sytem. It comes internally glazed with yale shootbolt locking and a window energy rating (WER) ‘A’ as standard along with a 10 year guarantee.

 

We also supply and install uPVC door panels manufactured by Hurst Plastics. These are top quality panels and add further designs to our range of door panels.

 

Masterdor are one of the country’s leading manufacturers of composite doors. We supply and install Masterdor Benchmark composite doors as well as Masterdor Craftsman Timber doors.

 

Synseal are the largest producer of PVCu profile in the UK. We supply and install a selection of specialist quality products manufactured by them.

Double Glazed Sealed Units

There are a number of reasons why you may wish to replace the double glazed units in your windows. If your windows have condensation trapped between the two panes of glass and have misted up we can change them, you don’t have to go to the expense of replacing the whole window. Or you may wish to give your home a facelift. Whatever your reason we can cover it, whether you have UPVC, Aluminium or Timber windows. Our double glazed units come with a five year guarantee and are manufactured to BS EN 1279.

Misty Glass

If your windows mist up, particularly on cold, damp days then it is likely the seal around the glass unit has broken down allowing the penetration of water or condensation between the two panes of glass. However double glazed units just don’t break down. There is normally one or several reasons why this happens. It could be that the original units were not manufactured efficiently, or the most likely cause could be that the units were installed incorrectly and or the rubber gaskets around the periphery of the glass unit, has shrunk allowing the ingress of water.

When we install replacement double glazed glass units due to misting up we go the extra mile to find out why it happened in the first place and take remedial steps to ensure that it doesn’t happen again, for example we ensure that the new units are not blocking drainage holes and the glass units are sitting on glass packers so that even if a drainage hole does become blocked the unit is not sitting in water. uPVC Windows

This type of window is now the most popular in the country. Unfortunately the uPVC industry has a high rate of casualties as far as Companies going out of business is concerned. This means that people are left with guarantees and no one to honour them. We deal with all types of repairs associated with UPVC windows.

Aluminium Windows

As with uPVC windows we can in most cases carry out the same level of repairs. However, generally speaking aluminium window installations are older than UPVC installations. This coupled with some of the methods of manufacture, these windows can be time consuming when a repair is needed. For example with the majority of friction stays on UPVC windows these are screwed to the frame, with aluminium they are nearly always riveted, which makes replacement more difficult. Also depending whether the window has an anodised silver finish and has oxidized or a powder coated finish can affect the time taken to clean or restore the frame. Older aluminium windows were installed into timber sub-frames, we do not carry out remedial work to timber.

Timber Windows

As with UPVC windows we can in most cases carry out the same level of repairs. But as with timber sub-frames on aluminium windows we do not carry out remedial work to the timber frame or opening sashes.

uPVC Doors

Aluminium Doors

As with UPVC Doors we can in most cases carry out the same level of repairs. However, generally speaking aluminium door installations are older than uPVC installations. This coupled with some of the methods of manufacture, such as the door being made around the glass can be time consuming when a repair is needed.

Also depending whether the door has an anodized silver finish and has oxidized or a powder coated finish can affect the time taken to clean or restore the frame. Older aluminium windows were installed into timber sub-frames, we do not carry out remedial work to timber.

Wooden or Timber Doors

In general the only remedial work we carry out to timber doors is to repair or change the locking mechanism.

The main two types of lock associated with these doors are:

• Cylinder rim locks
• Mortice locks

Cylinder rim locks are commonly known as Yale locks. There are two ways in which this type of lock can be replaced or repaired. If you have lost your keys or it is only the cylinder which is set in the lock housing is damaged but the main lock housing is working we will change this part only and provide new keys, which is a cheaper alternative to replacing the complete lock. If the lock housing is broken or damaged we will endeavour to repair it, if this is not possible we will replace the entire lock including the cylinder.

Mortise locks come in various types and are recognized by the amount of locking levers within the lock. Insurance companies insist on a five lever mortise lock conforming to BS 3621 When replacing mortise locks we would always advise to have a BS approved five lever lock fitted.
